How to make good decisions
Decisions, decisions, decisions!
Life is full of them.
But how do you make good decisions? And, who decides that a decision is good anyway?
This photo from Netflix popped up on my feed and sparked my thinking. Do you think the decision making at Netflix has been good or bad? Good, right! They are a successful superstar organisation.
But look closer. The original business model was based on shipping DVDs back and forth to their customers. That doesn't sound like a good decision from our lens of today. So, maybe our perception of the ability to make good decisions is heavily biased by the outcome that we see at a point in time.
I offer that good decisions can result in bad outcomes, and bad decisions can result in good outcomes. So, what is to be learnt? Well, the important thing is to make a decision. Go for it. And, don't be afraid to make another one that takes you in a different direction.
It's not making any decision that results in a bad outcome.
As long as you keep making decisions, good or bad, you'll get to that good outcome. Stick with it, and keep going. It just takes time. Look how it turned out for Netflix.
